A wart is a benign tumor of the epithelial tissue caused by Papillomavirus. It comes in many different varieties, depending on the type of the virus infection.

Warts are easily transmitted and are one of the most common infections. They can sometimes spontaneously disappear after a year or more and sometimes people develop resistance to them after they've healed. When and why this happens only to some people is still unknown.

A wart can grow on any area of the skin, although the most common sites are the nose, back and palms of the hands and on feet.
